We left early and headed north to Mendocino. I had reserved a campsite at a KOA on Westport Beach, just north of Fort Bragg. We stopped at Glass Beach in Fort Bragg where glass washes up on shore. People were digging for abalone and other treasures. If you looked interested in an area, people were very curious as to what you were looking at. Beautiful spot.
We made it to our KOA in Westport beach. It was alright. We had a "private" site. It was surrounded by trees, but was directly across from the park office and beside the washrooms. It was clean and the owners were nice. We weren't there to "camp" so it suited our purpose. The wifi was good too.
It was a little chilly to swim, and we actually never even walked down to the beach. We decided instead to take the very windy road to Leggett to drive through the Chandelier Tree.
The road was very curvy, I was quite nauseous. But the Chandelier tree was fun. You pay your $5 and get to drive on through. Then of course visit the gift shop on your way out. Shay wanted to film the drive-through so we don't have actual photos of it. It was tight! I almost made it out without incident. The tree narrows on the driver's side near the exit and popped the casing off of my sideview mirror...oops! I didn't even notice, aside from the crunch. It popped back on easy enough.

There is another touristy place out here called Confusion Hill. I originally wanted to visit, but then read it was very similar to Mystery Spot, so we decided against it. There are many wineries out this way as well. We took the long windy road back to our campsite, and saw deer on the side of the road. Just chillin'. It was a night of wine, hotdogs, salad and Crazy Eights.
